Hi Everyone,
Thanks for checking in. I’ve been meeting this week with the good people over at Freelancers Union to discuss details for launching a “Get ___________ Paid” campaign. This campaign has two objectives. The first objective is to help one individual collect money from a deadbeat client in a solidarity movement. |
|
Working with Frelancers Union to get you paid & help change legislation
| The second (and more important) is to raise awareness and support for New York’s Assembly Bill 4129/ Senate Bill 6698. Hopefully we can garner enough support to get our legislators to bring this bill to a vote in the senate. If written into law this legislation would extend to freelancing individuals the same protections granted to employees by the department of labor. This would mean the dept. of labor would be able to investigate complaints by freelancers, make claims for compensation, civil and criminal penalties, and assess liquid damages. This would also authorize the dept. of labor to award attorney fees and liquidated damages on a freelancer’s behalf. I look forward to working with Freelancers Union on this campaign. Keep checking back as I will continue to make posts here as we move forward. |

Starting this month I will have a recurring segment in Esquire called "New Rules for Men." This segment will focus on etiquette and style tips for the modern man. These spots will run simultaneously in print and in the iPad accessible version of the magazine where they will be presented as animated shorts. Due to my embargo agreement with Esquire it is still too early to post the animations on my site, but keep checking back in for updates. Till then…
